What is understood by "Solid Ground"
Building on a Firm Foundation for Restoration (Matthew 7:24-27)
In the Bible, "solid ground" is a metaphor for:
- • Something secure and unchanging that people can stand on during difficult times.
- • The foundation of faith in Jesus Christ.
Explanation
- • The Word of God provides a foundation for people to stand on.
- • Jesus Christ is the solid rock, or unshakable truth, that believers can build on.
- • Faith in Jesus Christ provides a source of strength and spiritual grounding.
- • The Gospel message is good news that can liberate people from sin and death.
What does the Bible mean by solid ground?
- Psalm 26 Conclusion: "Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the Lord."
- Hebrew Meaning: The Hebrew word translated here as "solid ground" is mishor. It can refer literally to a "level place" or "plateau" (Deut. 3:10), yet mishor also has a metaphorical sense of righteousness or justice in biblical Hebrew.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."
